GST SAMVAAD with MSMEs: Addressing E-commerce Challenges

In a bid to tackle the hurdles faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the e-commerce sector, the Forum for Internet Retailer, Seller & Trader (FIRST), a division of India SME Forum (ISF), joined hands with the GST Delhi North Commissionerate to organize 'GST SAMVAAD with MSMEs'. The event brought together prominent dignitaries, including Mr. Manish Mohan Govil, Principal Commissioner, GST Delhi North Zone, and other senior officials from the GST Delhi North Zone.

The gathering provided a platform for MSMEs to voice their concerns regarding the stringent GST registration processes, which often prove to be a significant obstacle for businesses operating in multiple states. The participants highlighted the need for a more streamlined registration process, citing issues such as physical presence requirements and delays in registration. Additionally, they expressed concerns about the suspension of GSTIN, which can have a devastating impact on business operations.

In response to these concerns, Mr. Manish Mohan Govil appreciated the initiative taken by ISF and outlined plans to establish biometric centers, aimed at simplifying interstate operational complexities for MSMEs. Mr. Vinod Kumar, President of India SME Forum and FIRST India, thanked the GST Delhi North Commissionerate and emphasized the need for recognizing non-traditional business models within the GST framework. He also stressed the importance of promoting digital solutions for compliance.

The event witnessed key discussions on adopting a single home state PPOB model, legal recognition of non-traditional business models, and complete digitization of authentication processes. The participants concluded the event with a commitment to advocate for MSME interests and ensure smoother GST compliance across the nation.

By addressing the challenges faced by MSMEs in the e-commerce sector, this initiative marks a significant step towards creating a more conducive business environment in India.
